This is another civil war battlefield that was the site of the first Union general’s death. Weirdly, the visitor center has the original bed and quilt that the general was laid out on after he perished. They also had the largest collection of civil war era guns and sabers that I have seen. I drove the audit tour and took several short hikes to the location of cannon batteries and homesteads from the time period. The park service still plants corn in the original corn field where the secondary battle took place.
