This is shared with a state park and there are several locations throughout the area celebrating the life of this most courageous woman. I visited the farm she was born into slavery at, some of the wetlands that were used during the flights to freedom, a park in downtown Cambridge and the main visitor center that has a legacy garden. The garden has placards posted along the walking trails with excerpts from William Still’s writings of the Underground Railroad. After escaping slavery herself, Harriet risked her life to voluntarily returned to the active slave state to help over 70 others gain their freedom.
