Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest

June 2, 2026

High elevation turns moderate hikes into rather difficult hikes. The lake was 9700 feet after climbing about 900 feet in just under two miles. I was light headed most of the time but Lake Mary was gorgeous with snow still around the edges. The trail was in the Wasatch portion of the forest and started at a ski resort. It followed a ski slope under a chair lift for the first third then moved higher into the trees. There was a decent amount of snow still on the trail which made it slippery going up and treacherous going down, I never have my ice spikes when I need them. I have my eye on a particular trail in the Cache portion and will update when I do that hike.
