A nasty ice/snow storm had come through the area several weeks prior and I was impressed with how many cut up downed logs were along the roads and the trail making travel to the trailhead accessible. The forest was rather drippy as it was raining and I was in a cloud for most of the hike to King Creek Falls. The pleasant smell of wet pine accompanied me along the way. The area is probably gorgeous in spring when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
