Paterson Great Falls National Historic Park

This was a planned industrial city with the help of the President Jefferson. SUM (Society for Useful Manufacturing) used the falls for a powerhouse and numerous wood mills, textiles and other industries. Most of the park was under construction but I could still walk around the falls including getting sprayed by the mist from the polluted water. Several of the old buildings are now ruins but many still stand and are being used by modern businesses including an old brick Burger King. A walk across the river is a city park which had heaps of trash and several homeless sleeping on benches. The view is best from the Historical park side, so stay over there.
