Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest

This forest borders North Cascades National Park so I did a couple trails in each area. I was planning to do the Maple Loop trail that has great views of the mountains. It was too much snow and I did not bring my crampons so, I did a back-up shorter trail to Rainy Lake. This lake was gorgeous and made the slog through snow and several downed trees worth it. My next stop was Easy Pass. It was not easy but rather up, up, up and then down, down, down. I turned around at about the 2.5 mile spot where I sprained my ankle a bit. I was able to make it back down slowly but safely. The evergreen forest did make a peaceful hike.
