Site of the first Revolutionary war battle in North Carolina. Only about 31 people died leading to a victory for the Patriots, but it was important as it led to the southern rebels being able to join the armies of the north to fight the British. The battle took place at a bridge over Moores Creek. The bridge has been rebuilt an estimated 10 times but one of the walking trails leads over it and around the re-made earthen works. There are also several memorials on the grounds among the pine trees.
