Going to the Sun Road is just as cool as everyone says. It was too late in the year for the shuttle, so I drove it. Scary drop offs and cliff overhangs but amazing views. I hiked the Trail of Cedars and Avalanche Lake. Tall serene trees and a glacier carved lake surrounded by a rim of mountains. Way too many people on the trail for my taste. I made several other stops for short hikes at Sun Point, waterfalls and ate lunch at Lunch Point. The glaciers all seem to be very small with lakes where they have receded. It would not be surprising to have no glaciers at Glacier NP in 30 years. I had only seen some small birds and chipmunks until I was on the way out of the park when a mama black bear and her cub stopped traffic by eating grass next to the road. The youngster ran a circle around my car.
