George Rogers Clark National Historical Park

Some of the Civil war and Revolutionary war sites were starting to blur together, but this one stands out. There is a huge memorial on site where Fort Sackville stood in the late 1700s in what is now modern day Vincennes, IN. It is on par with the ones in DC. Large columns outside only to be outdone on the inside with huge murals and a statue of the namesake. All sitting next to walking paths along the Wabash River make a very memorable pretty park. The former fort changed hands several times during the revolutionary war ending with US occupation in 1779 all without lose of a single life. This led to the “Northwest Territories” being officially part of the United States after the war and later became Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.
