My first stop was Lake of the Woods for a hike around part of it. There are several campgrounds, a resort and numerous summer houses making the lake loud from the boats, jet skis and just too many people. With people comes trash, specifically underwear. Why do some folks lose their briefs? The lake was pretty although it was smokey making Mt McLoughlin (pointy one) and Brown Mountain (rounded one) kind of hazy. I spent the night at Doe Point campground next to Fish lake. Hardly anyone was camping and no boats were on the lake making it much quieter. The loudest thing was an osprey kersplooshing when fishing for dinner and a bunch of geese at 5am. The lake level was extremely low creating dried mud along the edge. This made it very easy to see animal tracks such as deer and possibly cougar.
