Claremont Hills Wilderness Park - California
June 14, 2023
Last minute hike as I had the afternoon off from work and it was close by. I had no hiking gear with me, so I was in work clothes and sneakers. Not the ideal setup for hiking but it turned out alright. The main trail is really a wide dirt road. There is a loop that is 5 miles that transports you from LA city life to a hilly wilderness as the park is snuggled up to Angeles National Forest. The overcast weather made for perfect hiking and included a touch of mist at the top of the loop. The highlight of the hike was some yucca plants that were still in bloom. The trail is super busy with walkers, mountain bikers and runners. Although there were numerous signs warning about recent sightings of mountain lions, I did not see any.
