Christiansted National Historic Site

Feb. 25, 2024

Another Historic Site that was only two blocks from my hotel, so I visited. This is a historic fort and government buildings along the wharf from when St. Croix was a Dutch colony. Quite a few buildings are still standing including the fort, scale house, customs house, warehouses and steeple building. Like many other historical buildings from this era, it was built by and used in the slave trade for sugar cane plantations on the island. It is a nice walk along the waterfront next to the buildings.
