My GPS led me astray and I had to back track around lakes almost 30 minutes to get to the trail I wanted. Minnesota may be the land of 10,000 lakes but, northern Wisconsin comes in a close second. I hiked the Vanishing lake and Sam Campbell memorial trails. This area is very ecologically diverse with many different trees including several varieties of pine, cedar, fir, maple, oak, aspen, tamarack, spruce and birch. The trail has numerous signs that include identification information and quotes by the former naturalist. It was a surprisingly pleasant hike and I survived without any ticks.
