Cesar E Chavez National Monument

Farm Workers Unite! This park is at the home of Cesar Chavez who helped organize farm workers into a union. The visitor center has a timeline of farm labor in California including horrible tidbits of history such as the state outlawing the ownership of land by Asian immigrants. It also details the grape and lettuce strikes. There is a memorial garden (his final resting place), desert garden and walking paths (old dirt roads) on the property. Look out for aggressive squirrels and numerous lizards. The roses were gorgeous in the memorial garden.
