Cane River Creole National Historical Park

Feb. 18, 2025

This park has limited operating hours on only a couple days a week, of which I was not there for. I could see the grounds but could not enter any of the buildings. The park is spread out across several cotton plantations along the Cane River including Oakland, Magnolia and Melrose. The original houses and outbuildings are still intact including overseer and slave quarters. One building had been turned into a grocery store/gas station probably in the 1950s. The primary purpose is the history of the creole people from the area.
