My ferry to Ellis and Liberty Islands left from this state park. I got there early so I took advantage and explored the many paved trails. These were popular with joggers, especially the one that runs along the brown water of the Hudson River. The small beach was not tempting either as it had lots of trash on it. The park offered a great view of the backside of the statue of Liberty and the NYC skyline. The water was surprisingly full of ferry traffic going all directions. There are two memorials in the park including one for Columbus and Empty Sky for the victims of 9/11.
