Finger Lakes National Forest

This area is beautiful in the fall with shades of green, red, orange and yellow. I hiked portions of Interlaken and Burnt Ridge trails that was dense forest that led into a cow pasture and through some serious mud. There were numerous dead deer along the road, a tall corn field just before the trailhead and it got eerily misty right after entering the forest. Things right out of a horror movie, but I did not see any chainsaw wielding maniacs. Several hardwood trees like ash and other plants (clubmoss) were present that I am not used to seeing. There was a short stop for a steeper walk at Caywood Point to Seneca Lake (largest of the finger lakes) and Queens Castle.
