Cedar

Cedar Breaks National Monument

The Hoodoos in this canyon were not as spectacular as Bryce Canyon, but it was still impressive with beautiful layered sandstone. I hiked part of the Rim trail to Spectra Point which normally is a moderate hike. This location is over 10,000 ft elevation, which made it much more difficult. There is a huge 1700 year old bristlecone pine tree by the point that made the hike worth it. The railroad built a tourism rail line linking many parks in Utah in the 1800s and had numerous lodges along the way. A small cabin is all that is left of the lodge that used to be located here.
