One of the older places for history that I have been to. This was the site of a planned walled English town and protective fort in 1736. It saw minor action against the Spanish in the fight for territory six years later and then most of the town burnt down in 1758. The only remnants are some foundations, part of the fort and the soldier barracks. The cement was made with oyster shells which are visible. The grounds are now mostly large trees dripping with Spanish moss.
