Located in the middle of the Navajo Reservation, this monument is hard to get to. The only portion currently open to the public is a viewpoint of the Betatakin cliff dwellings. It is a short hike to the viewpoint. The cliff dwellings are impressive inside a natural cave. The people left the dwellings after a drought around 1300. As a bonus, there is a nicely preserved dinosaur footprint next to the visitor center.
